Mobility Hub at Vyttilla shall be the gate way to the commercial capital of Kerala since this site connects Allapuzha, Coimbatore, Idduki, Kottayam and Thrissur through National Highway 47, which passes by touching the site, offering connectivity with National Highway 17 and National Highway 49. The sea port and the airport is approximately 25 km from the proposed site. The National Waterway 3 is also located very near to the site, and it is connected to Kollam and Kottapuram. Normal Railway as well as Metro Rail can be connected to the Mobility Hub. The plan out lay is an expenditure of Rs. 265 crores and a return of Rs. 340 crores. The site offers a sprawling 25 acres of land to develop 71 bus bays and 150 bus parking slots for long and short distance buses catering to 2.5 lakhs passengers every day. Retiring rooms and hotel rooms can be offered to the transiting passengers at affordable rate while offering rest rooms etc for transport employees. While accommodating 900 cars and 120 auto-rickshaws in its parking lots with multi level parking options, it has the potential to host a world-class mega shopping mall, food courts, cultural center and health club, a hotel, a 50m swimming pool, a water front and a boat jetty in a total buildup area of 13, 70,000 sq.ft, making a vibrant and attractive place of transit, work, shop and civic interaction.
Feeder system, Transit station, airport/train station shuttle services, smart cards are some of the value additions that Mobility hub offers. It offers 5000 direct employment.
Various options like SPVs, BOT, and PPP etc to be explored to make it a feasible project. While the authorities develop the bus station, mall, office, boat jetty, parks, walk ways, etc, the hotel property, cultural and convention centre, health club and 50 mt Olympic size swimming pool can be developed through private participation. Shopping mall can be built fully or partially air-conditioned according to the need with sky scrapper model. This built in-area can be leased out and retailers can be attracted to open their shops in the mall. Food malls, textiles shops and the jewellery can be other attractions. This can be a tall building with 16 or 17 floors, with a central atrium-Officer Space. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) meets the Global standards to make it a viable project to execute.
KSRTC will save Rs 17,660,160 on diesel consumption and the Private bus owner will save Rs 11,680,000.00 per annum by re routing the services to Mobility Hub. It will save 71,950 man hrs corresponding to Rs 82, 06, 79,687.50 annually. At the outset it offers to decongest the city by offering solutions like Travel avoidance, land use planning, mixed use, Transportation Demand Management, Telecommuting, Public space management, Shared space, Human-powered transport, Walking and Walkability , Pedestrianization, Traffic Calming, Cycling, public bicycle systems, utility cycling, public transit priority systems. Moreover, it will help reduce the traffic chaos, pollution, and accidents while chaining the passenger and vehicle behavior to the international standards.
