The buses will enter the mobility hub through the Kaniyampuzha Road. “Of the 13 bus bays proposed for the first phase, seven have already been completed. The remaining six will be completed by March end,” said G Rakesh, project coordinator, Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (KITCO). What the mobility hub offers in the first phase Bus bays: Thirteen bus bays will be constructed in the first phase?* where 65 buses can be parked. * Food court: A 7,500 sq ft food court will be set up for passengers. Rest rooms: Rest room facilities will be available for men and women.?* Waiting room: There will be well-finished waiting rooms with?* comfortable seating arrangements, the flooring work of which is progressing. Moving from the concept of a mere bus terminal, the hub will offer a perfect ambience of a mobility hub, Rakesh said. “The food court will be leased out to an agency which can provide quality food and refreshment to passengers at a moderate rate,” he said. Security system In order to provide necessary safety and security to passengers, the security management has been assigned to a private agency. “We will install advanced close circuit TVs for ensuring passenger safety,” Rakesh said. Second phase Once the work of the first phase is completed by Marchend, the Mobility Hub Society will have to take the steps to raise funds for the second phase of the work. The second phase includes the construction of other three floors of the building. The ground floor and first floor will be used exclusively for parking mofussil buses. The second and third floors will be leased out to commercial establishments. The two basement floors will be used for parking private cars and two-wheelers. “Some commercial establishments will function on the basement as we do not want to leave the parking area uninhabited,” said Rakesh.
